Today, I would like you to give yourself some grace, because even through all the chaos that many can never even begin to comprehend, I see you.  Standing.  I see you, waking up every single day to fight, and with strength depleted for the day, I see you, somehow overcome, and then wake up the very next day to do it all over again!

To the world, you are always….you!  You are always smiling, well presented, an everyday mom minding her own business in her little mundane life, and sometimes even very surprising to yourself, an inspirational powerhouse!

A smile here, a kind word there and sometimes even bucket loads of great advices to those around you.  You show up for work in high spirits most days, some days you manage to show up for special events and even find time to help friends and family with one thing or the other.  You still come home and make sure that there’s a hot meal for your family, that the house and everyone is clean.  All this while being everything and more to your child, educating and advocating in your stride.  Heck, you even find time to start and manage a small business to sustain your family, and how you even manage to pursue your passion and sometimes even further your studies is beyond me.

And so, to the world, you are fine.  All is well, and many even envy your life.

What the world doesn’t know or mostly never see is the literal blood, sweat and tears that have become your daily staple.  The many nights you stayed up right through because your child could not sleep, the many nights you took advantage of the quietness in your home after your child finally dozed off thus trading your sleep for work, and the equally many days that you were up all day and all night with not a stitch of work done, simply because the body or the mind or both had just plain refused to come to the party.

I want you to give yourself grace even when it takes 10 times more than the average person to achieve that one goal, because many, if placed in your shoes, would have just simply perished.  But not you, your innate motherly strength, even on days you think is failing, carries you and as for your resilience, it astounds even the strongest of men.  Your vision, even when others do not understand it, in your mind, it is crystal clear.  Sometimes you can only move an inch of a step towards this vision and on really great days, you miraculously manage 10, maybe even a 100 but on most days, you are content even with one step taken.

I want you to understand that you are a catalyst of change for your child, an inspiration and a beacon of hope for many who are walking a similar journey as yours, the very breakthrough that you are looking for and most importantly, God’s most precious jewel on a crucial mission in this life-time.

So, the next time you feel as if you are about to fall apart, as you will on many occasions, I want you to remember all this and I want you to remember how special you are that the universe saw it fit for you to co-create and help shape the life of such a special child.  I want you to ask yourself….what is it that the universe really wants from you?  What is it that the universe sees in you that it trusts you with such a tall order that you don’t see in yourself?  And in that moment, I want you to zoom in on the specific challenge that you are battling with and ask yourself:  What lesson is the universe trying to teach me that I am not grasping?

Through all of this, my biggest wish is for you to awaken to the sacredness of your journey and especially keep your eyes fully opened for the lessons and the messages as they come.

In time, you will come to appreciate your child’s presence and his/her significant role in your life and also find that these “lessons” are actually necessary in helping you navigate and prepare for the next chapters of your life all the way through to your North Star.

Give yourself grace Mommy, you’ve got this
